“Sphere” comes in English

ROSA lab. has released the new version of maintenance product Sphere. It is a part of ROSA distribution targeted to automate technical issues support requests and processing. This new version sets English as a default language. Previous Sphere” version selected interface language according to operational system settings, and if it failed to do so – Russian was setas default. It turned out to be inconvenient for foreign users, so in new version English has a priority.

To date, languages represented in the distribution include: English by default, Russian and Portuguese. In the next version, "Sphere" will inform a user about the absence of localization for his language.

There is also more flexibility in the further localization of  Sphere: new language files can be added without rebuilding the entire package. This will allow the community to participate in the localization by simply adding the corresponding language files, and thus broaden the application audience.

In addition, the new version uses relative dates like "yesterday" or "today." It is more convenient for users because it allows them to track the history in a more familiar format.

Another Sphere” improvement is the ability to attach any file to a message (previously one could attach files to the original ticket only, not to the comment). This is useful for technical support - attached screen shots and configuration files help to quickly find out what exactly makes it difficult for users.

The new version also fixes some problems with sending and displaying queries. In particular, the new version of "Sphere" does not allow to send empty queries. These queries are now displayed in full, without cutting part of the text as it was before.

Besides, the ability to maintain user data during registration will be implemented. This will automate the subsequent log-ins to the system. To simplify the tracking of tickets and to control the solving process, it is planned to implement the ticket filter according to the ticket status or other criteria.

In the development version the user will be able to connect to the server through an intermediate proxy-server, instead of direct connection. According to the product development plan, all these new features will be implemented in the early spring 2012.
